Plextor "rebadging" cross reference sheet; HELP

I have began doing research on purchasing a Plextor drive that I can do DAE with; apparently, there are many drives that are "rebadged" ... I need to know what the "real" one's are with OVERREAD capability; What is the best ones to use with EAC;

I would like to purchased with within the week so I would greatly appreciate any input on this.

Thanks

I have a PX-230a and at first I was led to believe that it was a bogus Plextor. But after quite a bit of searching various forums, found that it is a "real" Plextor. It's a good drive actually. Good extraction speed, but caches audio. I think the debate with that one was centred around some people thinking that the model name format didn't follow Plextor's "standard" naming scheme. Anyways, I think it's a watered down version of the Premium, which is no longer offered. By watered down I mean it doesn't have Gigarec or Securec or something else, I can't remember. But it works well for me.

It does overread, and has an offset of -738 samples.

I also wanted a Plextor drive, and was thinking about buying a 716A, but i decided to order a 755A instead, which arrives tomorrow. The Plextor PX-755A is a real Plextor drive which uses an upgraded version of the Sanyo chipset that is used in the Plextor PX-716A and it includes all the well known Plextor features like Q-Check and over-reading etc.

Here is a review of the Plextor PX-755A : http://www.cdrinfo.com/Sections/Reviews/Sp...ArticleId=15879

If you don't wan't a rebadged Plextor model, then stay clear of the 740A and 750A which is rebadged models from BenQ and TEAC respectively.
