Another EAC / Lame settings question

I have just installed EAC and Lame onto a new computer (running WinXP, SP2)  At first I accepted the default additional command line options of

%l--alt-preset 128%l%h--alt-preset standard%h %s %d

This appears to have worked successfully, giving MP3 files of ~5,900KB for a 03:46 track.

Using the information in the recommended LAME setting document, I then changed the setting to

-V4 --vbr-new

This has resulted in the WAV file being created, but then not being compressed.  A command window pops up stating something along the lines of file not found.  (I am uncertain of the exact message as the window was not visible for long.)  Can anyone shed light upon what may be wrong ? and possibly direct me towards some further references on the subject.

Apologies if this is only showing up my lack of knowledge in this area, but we all have to start somewhere.

TIA
John.

Add %s %d and you'll be fine.

Peace,
Tristan.

Thanks very much, it's worked a treat.
Just for my own sanity, should I have found this gem of information somewhere ?
John.

You _could_ have figured it out yourself (not seeing it in the new config but seeing it in the first config, or by reading the manual) but the way you asked for it was fine.  Congratulations on your nettiquette.

Edits :

The manual isn't very obvious about it, but you can find a guide online on configuring EAC with LAME :
http://wiki.hydrogenaudio.org/index.php?title=EAC_and_Lame

You can copy a command line completely, and change the -V 2 (default in the wiki) to -V 4 instead, if you rather that size.

Good luck,
T.
