Capturing surround sound realtime

I have searched this forum and been using google for some time trying to find info on how I can rip/capture ingame surround sound from games while I play them or play back demos in them.

I know how to do it when it's only stereo, but what I really want is to get the surround sound games like Doom 3, Unreal Tournament 2004 and Half-Life 2 (which exports stereo sound when one exports screenshots, but not surround sound) generates while they are played or while they play back demos.

My M-Audio Revolution 7.1 soundcard can't capture stereo sound like just about any standard soundcard (like Turtle Beach Santa Cruz and most Creative sound cards) can, but I have other cards available if needed.
