Vorbis problem sample (bass)

http://sjeng.org/ftp/vorbis/bassline.flac

Problem: Lack of bass resolution. Not hard to ABX, but not obvious either.

Quality levels: -q5 (100kbps), -q6 (150) and -q7 (192kbps) confirmed. Didn't try others.

Handled fine by LAME APS, MPC and AAC.

First bass problem I ever heard with Vorbis...

I'm having trouble downloading bassline.flac (sloooow...), so Garf, can you hear this problem with RC2 Garf Tuned 2 (-b350) version? Thanks.

LOOOL

The changes Garf made to RC2 were merged into the CVS as far as I know, and right now the latest versions are close to RC4...

LOL as much as you want  but RC2 GT2 still beats RC3 -q9.0 when it comes to pre-echo. For example, try this clip: http://sjeng.sourceforge.net/ftp/vorbis/c44.flac
Some of Garf's changes were merged into CVS before RC3 came out, but I'd rather trust my ears then a version number. RC4 might be better, but until it officially comes out, I'll stick with this version.

I tried the latest compile from that link, but RC2 GT2 still sounds better then -q9.0 on c44.wav. RC2 GT2 has some +20 kbps avg. bitrate then -q9.0

I've managed to download bassline.flac, but I can't hear any problems. I'll try harder tomorrow...
