could someone answer this? (psytel preset tweak)

when using -normal preset:

will one of these

            -ihsc
            -low_ath
            -safems

increase encoding quality or is it more likely to mess it all up?


2nd question:
is there a difference between mpeg-2 lc and mpeg4-main ltp profile?
i mean relating to quality? i've seen some test a long time ago which showed that mpeg-4 main / main ltp was somewhat better. could this be true?
if it is so, what are the advantages of the lc profile and why does ivan use it as default in his encoder?

I'm extremely biased against profile tweaking.
So, I suggest you use the profile alone. It's safer.
BTW, I think -normal and up already use -safems.

Main LTP will probably deliver better quality than LC.
Main profile is very buggy, so shouldn't be used except for testing and bug reporting. The quality will be worse than LC, although shouldn't.

Ivan uses LC as the default because it's the most widely accepted profile in Software MPEG4 players, hardware AAC players, and so on.
