Audio Transcoding Stops Prematurely

I installed 0.7.7 special, but this bug was happening to me with 0.7.4 using the same settings. The conversion process reaches about 85% and then stops altogether, but without showing any signs of a problem. The conversion progress bar just stops and sits there until I click the abort button.

My OS is WinXP pro and I am using the exact settings detailed for transcoding from AC3 to MP3 in the Divx5 guide on everwicked.com, here.

The problem happens with every AC3 to MP3 file I've ever tried with foobar2000 of any version. Here's the log that's displayed after I click the abort button.

Quote
INFO (CORE) : startup time: 3063 ms
INFO (foo_clienc) : CLI encoder: C:\Program Files\foobar\lame.exe
INFO (foo_clienc) : Source file: file://D:\My Documents\Install Files\Video\Movies\Pirates of the Caribbean\Pirates of the Caribbean AC3 T01 3_2ch 448Kbps DELAY 0ms.ac3
INFO (foo_clienc) : Destination file: file://D:\My Documents\Install Files\Video\Movies\Pirates of the Caribbean\001 Pirates of the Caribbean AC3 T01 3_2ch 448Kbps DELAY 0ms.mp3
INFO (CORE) : Clipping detected.
ERROR (foo_diskwriter) : diskwriter thread shutdown timed out

Hope this info helps. I'll reply promptly to any posts on this topic.

Make sure to get latest version of foo_clienc and check that 'Encoder requires accurate length' is not checked. The problem sounds like lame.exe gets reported too short length and it closes itself after encoding that length worth of samples.

edit: if the latest installer for foobar2000 contains the latest .dll, then I already have it. The "Encoder Requires Accurate Length" was not checked... :-\ Your explanation makes complete sense, but the solution is yet unknown to me... any other ideas?

Don't mean to be impatient, but is there any chance I could get some help? I'd have thought that the developers at least would be interested in the problem I've presented. If not, I guess I will have to find an alternative solution.

I assume the file is simply too long and wav header can not represent the full size (there's 2GB limit). Try latest version of foo_lame instead of foo_clienc.

Thank you very much, oh knowledgable sir! Your assumption was absolutely on the mark and my file is now complete. I hereby present you with an imaginary badge of fine service : ) Thanks again for helping me out! Sorry if I seemed impatient
