Crash with latest oggenc2.3 rarewares build

Hi,
I've just downloaded & tested the latest rareware oggenc2.3 IC7 build and IC7+P4 build. I'm using Intel P4 2.4Ghz with Hyperthreading  cpu and Windows Xp Pro.

When i type this command

c:\>oggenc2 -q0 --advanced-encode-option lowpass_frequency=20 Track01.wav

it's just crash.

So i decided to download the official build from vorbis.com. It just work perfectly.

Hopefully, this information help.

Thanks.

Ok. I develop and test normally on an AthlonXP2700+, 2x256mb Mushkin Level II PC3500 RAM, WinXP-Pro SP1.

The standard build runs perfectly on the above setup.

I have recently gained access to, for testing purposes (it's not mine!!), a 3.2gHz P4 HT, 2x512mb TwinMOS PC3200 RAM, WinXP-Pro SP1.

I've just tested both the standard build and the P4 Optimised build on the above P4 system and they both ran fine with no problems!!

Can anyone else confirm any problems with the P4 build of oggenc2.3?

Hi John,

Encoding "1.wav" to
        "1.ogg"
at quality 0,00
Setting advanced encoder option "lowpass_frequency" to 20
Changed lowpass frequency from 15,100070 kHz to 20,000000 kHz
       [100,0%] [ 0m00s remaining] /

Done encoding file "1.ogg"

       File length:  4m 37,0s
       Elapsed time: 0m 20,0s

As it was P4 2.4HT, I don't suppose it was an overclocked CPU

Perhaps it runs on non-standard voltages or something like that. I remember LAME crashing on unstable overclocked CPUs --- my Athlon XP 2500+ @ 3200+ (2.2 Ghz) @ 1.65 V crashed from time to time, but as I set the voltage to 1.7 V --- it works perfectly...

I'm only guessing, of course.

Thanks for the replies. Overclocking could be a possibility, I guess. @lithoc - any comments?

It's a Dell Precision 360 MT, default settigns except for HyperThreading enabled. Just try rebooting btw, it works again. May be it's the Windows XP Pro SP1 problem. Cause I remember the error says, Memory allocation error... something.
Thanks for the help anyway.

Btw,  nice new logo. I wonder how 5.1 will look like

The test rig I was using also has HT enabled, but I'm glad it seems to have been resolved.
