Help Please - Can't save to wma format

If anyone has any thoughts I'd be very appreciative. I'm running Win xp and windows media 8 - for some reason my audio programs - cooledit, musicmaker, etc. will no longer convert or save audio files to wma format - they used to, but no longer display wma options, and won't save files as wma . I'm thinking some windows file / registry setting is corrupted or missing. Any ideas ?  Thanks - Tod

have recently installed or uninstalled anything?

perhaps you could download the codec and install that?

I'm not an expert, maybe someone else can offer more help.

Check out all of the options in WMP and look for things that may be DRM related. To reinforce tsioc's point, what is your installation history? (at the roughly the time it stopped working)

You could try upgrading to WMP9 and see if that fixes it.
