Pio2001 is using soundforge and the other graphs are from cooledit or audition. Briefly tried Cooledit 2.something back in the day and quickly ditched it to go back to SF (5.0 at the time, on 6.0d now).

For me it was the other way around: I tried SoundForge 4.5 some years ago, then went back to Cool Edit.

Heh... I like each one, for different sorts of uses...    Prefer the Sound Forge user interface however, as old fashioned as it is to have child windows within a program... just feels like a more natural way to work.

Is there anything freeware-ish available for the sole puprpose of creating them graphs? I'm kind of reluctant to spend several hundred dollars...

All wave editors having a GUI should have some waveform view. Free would be Audacity and EAC's wave editor. If you have Nero anyway you can use its wave editor too. There are some more free / cheap shareware waveeditors you'll find using the search here.
