WavTrim Questions

I recently tried out CDex for the first time, and have found it to work great so far under the "full paranoia" setting. One of the features that the program lacks, however, is an option to remove digital silence from the beginning and end of ripped tracks.

This is where the software known as WavTrim comes in to play. It has the option to get rid of digital silence from the beginning and end of WAV files, but there are a couple of options in the program that I'm not so sure about.

Options >> Trim Start >> Compact the files (use it if other files cannot read the files produced by WavTrim)

This option is disabled by default. Can someone explain its function in more detail?

Options >> Trim End >> Truncate the files (saves disk space)

This option is enabled by default. Is there any reason why I should disable it? I'm still not clear on what exactly it does to the WAV files.

Any responses would be appreciated. Thanks!
