Problems with mppdec on MacOS 10.2.4

I'm attempting to decode some MPC files on my new PowerBook G4, and have not been sucessful in doing so. I can get the files to decode to wav or aiff in the Darwin terminal, but when I play the resulting file in iTunes, I get screeching/hissing instead of music. Obviously, the files are decoding in the wrong byte order, but how do I change this? I don't see any switches to accomplish this in mppdec, and I really would like to decode these files. I have several albums that I backed up to MPC for which the orginal CD's no longer exist, and I would like to transocde them to AAC for my iPod. Any suggestions? (And by the way, my PC doesn't work anymore, so I need to do this on my Mac).

you can try this - http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo...fo/macosx/18923

which should do what you want, and is probably more convenient.

i had this same problem before, but i think there are two mac versions of mppdec out. one that automatically switches the endianess, and one that does not. there should be a switch you can set when you do "./mppdec --help"  (im not on a comp with it on right now, else id look it up)
