FLAC 192hz 24bits to MP3 48hz 320

Good Morning!
I recently downloaded several vinyl albums and I'm looking to convert them to MP3 because my space in HD is not enough and also because I like the quality of MP3. I have seen in some forum that one should convert the file from 192hz to 96hz and then to 48hz. This is true? Or can I convert normally to the 48hz that I desire without going through all these steps?

You should go direct to 48KHz

Directly to 48KHz is perfectly fine. Also you are encoding to MP3 so you could without any problems convert to 44.1KHz which is standard CD quality. I've never met anyone who can ABX that, and 44,1KHz mp3's is the de-facto standard sample rate for MP3's, although 48KHz should not give any problems.

Some implementations always resample. Some car player for example could convert your 48KHz mp3's on the fly to 44,1KHz, but the other way around is also possible (Android?). Should not be audible though because mp3 has more impact on quality than (good) rate conversion. If mp3 sound fine, you shouldn't worry.

Higher end equipment has 2 crystals.

One for: 44.1, - 88.2 - 176,4 - 352.8 KHz
A second one for: 48-96-192 - 384 KHz

Some people believe that equipment that has a 48KHz multiplied oscillator (that can also run at the slightly lower 44,1 frequency via some tricks or the other way around) sound inferior, but that is way offtopic here and also violates the TOS without evidence :)
