searching some new headphones, beat the unbeatable

Hi everyone,
first of all, let me apologize for all the grammar mistakes you'll read there, this isn't my base langage.
SO
I write here to ask you if you know any headphones that could suit me.
I'm searching something better than the one, only and ultimate Sony MDR-V6.
So in my short life, I had the chance to test some headphones.
Reloop RHP-5 (well baaaaass, and it broke)
I had two pairs of skullcandy basic earpods, pretty good.
Then I haaad.. Another reloop, I can't remember it's name.
Finally, A V-MODA crossfade LP. This was my first great sounding headphone. It was awsome. I still have it though. And I used it a loooooot.
but one day, one of my teacher made me try his sony mdr v6. it was.. wow.. I borrowed it for a day. then, I gave him back, I took my vmoda, I listened to system of a down... And I litterally cried. It was sounding so bad. Terrible.

Well. That was uninteressant as hell, huh? let's do this short
Bought-V6-Was-Happy-TooLongCable-UnremovableCable-Defeat.

Sooooo
can any of you, fellow friends, (hell yeah, yo ma friends!), give me the name of a(? is this singular or plural?) headphone, as good as the V6, or better, for 150$ max, with a removable cable?

Thank you very much
sincerely yours,
me.

The Audio Technica ATH-M50x has a removable cord, and are very popular. If you want cheaper there's the M40x as well. I got the M50 modded by Sound Professionals which is equivalent to the M50x as far as I know and it's fine.

Okay thank you :)
I don't understand, on each website the opinion is different, so could you please answer me about yours? Does it have a removable cable? and the M-40?

Also, I see a lot of posts about the plantronic backbeat pro. Is it worth the 140€? Is it better than my V6, or your m50?
I tested it, but I found it a bit high-pitched.

Thank you, and sorry for the disturbance ;)

I don't know about those other headphones, but the M50x and M40x have a detachable cord. As far as I know that's the only difference between those and the M50 and M40, so make sure to get the "x" models of those if you end up buying one of them.

Plan B, learn how to shorten / reterminate such a cable yourself. Being able to solder (along with operating a multimeter and, obviously, a screwdriver) is a skill that tends to come in handy when dealing with all things electronic throughout your life, and there are some really good tutorials available online, such as these ones (oldschool as they may be, though that's hardly a criterion in itself - I find that in some areas there's still plenty to learn from folks who are retired and literature that's been out of print for decades). There is loads of good information out there, learn to separate the wheat from the chaff, pick up some useful skills and your life should be all the better for it. I mean, why are people attracted to musicians? They can do stuff and are good at it. These skills could be all kinds of things, depending on your predispositions - some people might enjoy handy work, others languages. Keeps your brain on its toes at the very least, which becomes increasingly important once you're not in the educational system any more. As one of our most well-known (if controversial) neuroscientists puts it, the brain is a funny box that the more you put in, the bigger it gets. (It just might not expand in all directions equally.) Most older people have trouble learning not just because it gets slower in general, the majority of the effect tends to come from not being used to learning any more.

Errr.... ummm, sorry, got a bit carried away there, but anyway...

What you will find inside a headphone cable varies somewhat, but expect to see three or four generally twisted, insulated conductors (the latter being preferred as separate returns for the left and right driver keep common return resistance to a minimum, which when too big has a tendency towards artifically increasing stereo separation / L-R) and some sort of fibers or filament to give it tensile strength. The insulation tends to make things hard to solder and generally needs to be burned off since it's obviously not possible to strip teeny tiny wires in a conventional manner.

I have a ATH-M50x which I bought refurbished from A-T a couple of years ago.  Like new in box, full warranty, and I paid around $110.  You can get replacement cables for $20-30, at varying lengths.  I bought a shorter cable because I rarely need the long one which came with the phones.

I really like the sound of the M50x.  I think it is a little less prominent in the upper midrange than the MDR-V6 but honestly I would have trouble saying which one I like better.
