Is there any way to get foobar to ignore the tags and take every folder as an album? My library is not exactly small and tagging everything would take more than I'd like to admit.
The folder hierarchy is as follows: Category/Genre -> Artist -> Album
I'm using a fresh install of foobar.
I've used Winamp and I was making playlists the hard way, they looked something like this:

After I reinstalled windows however nothing would show up and I had around 800 playlists which I created over time, it would be a real hassle to do them all over again so I was wondering if there is a quick, automated way of doing so.

Mp3tag (despite the name, it supports a lot more than just MP3!) can easily add tags to your files based on the path and file name. It can tag all of them at once, so you don't have to waste time tagging each file individually.

If you're missing track numbers, that might make things a little more difficult...

So can foobar, for the record. But it's all assuming your filenames are nearly perfect and uniform. :\

What's that "-------------- Artist" thing at the top? A pseudo-song used as a separator? Foobar can display playlists like that automatically, in case you weren't aware.

I suspect this thread will soon be moved to the foobar forums, by the way.

Sort by %directoryname% or replace %album% with %directoryname%. $directory(%path%) or $directory(%path%,1) can also be used. See the foobar2000 Title Formatting page on the wiki.

Empty playlist used as a separator yeah haha.
Thanks for the replies, I'll try and fix this right now.

EDIT: Where exactly do I have to replace %album%?
