Coding Plugin Question

I'd like to give a try making a plugin (a cover art plugin specifically) but I have no experience coding in a C++ or whatever language is used for the plugins.

I was taught using Turbo Pascal, and I'm exerpienced in PHP/Perl.

Would it be a difficult transition?

C++ is certainly different from the languages you mentioned, but the transition is doable. There is some more information on getting started with C++ and foobar2000 in this thread.
