Some classical music has such a wide dynamic range that older ears like mine are getting frustrated. Is there a plug in to apply compression of audio dynamic range on playback only? I am NOT talking about MP3 vrs Wave compression, I mean leveling out playback volume to a variable degree. Can anyone help?
Tried foobar2000 and https://www.foobar2000.org/components/view/foo_dsp_effect with the Dynamics Compressor effect?
Thanks--- I'll check it out.
Seems to work,,,, Thanks again.
This thing also helps to even out the level with quiet stuff EBU R128 Compressor/Normalizer (http://www.foobar2000.org/components/view/foo_r128norm)
Another one to try is vlevel: https://hydrogenaud.io/index.php/topic,65889.msg588147.html#msg588147
It's an automatic volume control that turns the volume up during quiet sequences and back down when the music gets loud.
Norton blocked that one when I tried to unzip. fI think the DSP one seems to do the job when I need it...and I thank everyone.
