Title: What was fixed in 1.1.18?
Post by: MaCs on 2012-11-26 16:16:08
The changelog says "Hot fix: deadlock detection feature has been disabled due to newly documented harmful side effects."

What were the side effects? I had problems recently where i could not make my pc hibernate and I wonder if it was related to that.

Looks like it was. Change log says: "Hot fix: deadlock detection feature has been disabled due to newly documented harmful side effects." and there is further explanation below: "No more crash when playing during a machine standby cycle".

The "deadlock detection" feature turns long app-unresponsive periods into crashes that show up on my radar, so the problems causing them can be fixed. Unfortunately the feature was just proven to cause collateral damage and needs to be redesigned entirely before it can be enabled again.

Additionally, deadlock detection did expose core bugs that got fixed shortly after it was introduced; none of the recent reports have been really interesting.
