I have my favorites:
- Flashblok -- prevents those flash animations to ever start downloading
- Tab Mix Plus -- Extreme control over tabs
- FlashGot -- for integration with GetRight
- FasterFox -- accelerates Firefox mighty good.
What are yours?
- Adblock (https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/10/) - [a href="https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/10/" target="_blank"][a href="https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/10/" target="_blank"]https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/10/ (https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/10/)[/a][/a]
Blocks a ton of ad servers. - Adblock Filterset.G Updater (https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/1136/) - [a href="https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/1136/" target="_blank"][a href="https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/1136/" target="_blank"]https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/1136/ (https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/1136/)[/a][/a]
An add-on to Adblock and Adblock Plus which includes an additional list of ad servers to block, also allows you to block other sites not just the ones in it's list. - IE Tab (https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/1419/) - [a href="https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/1419/" target="_blank"][a href="https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/1419/" target="_blank"]https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/1419/ (https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/1419/)[/a][/a]
Allows for embedding Internet Explorer into the tabs of of Firefox and using the Internet Explorer rendering engine for sites that are only IE friendly such as Windows Updates, Microsoft Updates, or other Microsoft download sites that require validation. You can add your own filters/rules that will automatically switch to the IE rendering engine when you visit particular sites such as update.microsoft.com. - McAfee SiteAdvisor (http://www.siteadvisor.com/) - [a href="http://www.siteadvisor.com/" target="_blank"][a href="http://www.siteadvisor.com/" target="_blank"]http://www.siteadvisor.com/ (http://www.siteadvisor.com/)[/a][/a]
Available for Firefox and Internet Explorer. When doing searches, and when loading sites it indicates how safe those sites are, and can help thwart off accidentally visiting a malicious site unknowingly. However you have to pay attention to its little o.k. or potentially dangerous icons.
- Adblock
- BBCode (https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/128/)
- Hit-a-Hint (https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/1341/) - for when I've forgotten to charge my mouse

SearchPluginHacks has been useful (to remove unwanted search plugins) and Session Manager can be useful, but also annoying at times.
Forecastfox (https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/398/) (I'm english, we like to talk about the weather)
Colorzilla (https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/271/)

Don't use the web developement based ones so much these days as my real work has taken precedence.
FoxyTunes. Gives you a set of controls for your audio player of choice in a small, relocateable bar.

besides the ones already mentioned:
CookieCuller
Quick Java
AdBlock Plus
Does anyone know if there's an extension that will block favicons, or at the least remove them from the bookmarks file without having to resort to manually editing it?
Use the Favicon Picker extension, then use that to clear the icon. Right-click the Bookmark, Properties, Erase.
Image Zoom 0.2.3
FasterFox 1.0.3 (but not at BAD default settings)
NoScript 1.1.3.9

I just use Adblock plus
Use the Favicon Picker extension, then use that to clear the icon. Right-click the Bookmark, Properties, Erase.
It works like a charm, and is now one of my favourite extensions as well.
FoxyTunes
Yakalike (https://addons.mozilla.org/extensions/moreinfo.php?id=1775&application=firefox) (chat with persons visiting the same website as you).
Noone mentioned Mouse Gestures yet? That is one of my must-have-addons.
Tab preview also is very useful

Ridiculous version number!
Why, because the version number format includes the date or because the date is 6.6.06?

How does it get above version 1.0 anyway.....
How does it get above version 1.0 anyway.....
It gets updated frequently. Now it's 2.1.20060713W and FireFox is also slated to go version 2 in the near future. I think you can get a FF 2.0 beta to play with here.

All in all, this gets firefox down to as minimal as: Titlebar, Menu-Button, URL-Editbox, Displayarea, Statusbar incl. adblock-icon
No menus, except a minimal contextmenu. Only one toolbar-button. Everything else is done via mouse (incl. opening/closing) sidebar.
I am even thinking about auto-hiding the statusbar as well - but last time i tried it, it resultet in display-glitches when scrolling.
- Lyx
For web developers: FireBug (http://www.joehewitt.com/software/firebug/)
- BBCode (https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/128/)
Alright, can someone tell me which one is better:
BBCode ( https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/128/ (https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/128/) )
or
BBCodeXtra ( https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/491/ (https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/491/) )
I add Restart Tabbed (https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/2347/) to my favelist...
I use SeaMonkey suite. Firefox + mail + chatzilla + composer, etc.
Super DragAndGo, similar to *gestures.
Just added DownThemAll (https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/201/) to my 'nice' list of extensions. It's a XUL-based download manager, kinda like GetRight, but very useful for downloading the latest foobar2000 from the pesky www.foobar2000.org (always failed using GetRight).
That said, I think DownThemAll's download list cannot be shared between users. So I'm still using GetRight for all other downloads.

The search bar is useless if you're using keywords.
Ctrl-L, ? search query. done.
I don't use many extensions routinely. Something to keep all tabs in a single window, adblock + filterset updater, and whatever else I find nifty on any particular install of Firefox.
@Canar: Not really. I added Wikipedia and Merriam-Webster to the search bar. Thus I can jump directly to their site if I need to look up something.
I've got keywords for both Wikipedia and Dictionary.com (not m-w, but it works). They work fine.
Edit: And making one for m-w was a snap...
i love flashgot & super dragandgo
flashgot -> to use flashget
super dragandgo -> drag link to open new tab
I've got keywords for both Wikipedia and Dictionary.com (not m-w, but it works). They work fine.
Edit: And making one for m-w was a snap...
Gee, you're right... how come I've forgotten totally about the wonders of keywords?
Well, the reason I did not use keywords originally is that M-W's online dictionary's search form -- if you visit the site -- uses Javascript, so I just think that keywords cannot be used there. Well, the solution was for me to use the search bar to search a word unlikely to be part of the parameter (e.g. "moronic"), found the URL, and then replace that word with %s ...
Thanks for reminding me
adblock, noscript, tab mix plus, img like opera, download statusbar, menu editor, cute menus 2, reorder statusbar, (the one that opens highlighted text in a new tab), flashgot (previously 'download with'), download embeded, cache status, cache viewer, shift+tab preview, active stop button, disable backspace navigation, fission, up one level, (fullscreen) + (hide menubar), resurect link, open without referer, ... more that I can't think of.
note: named off the top of my head, could be a bit off
I'm still looking for one to disable evil drag&drop text editing
@gameplaya: Are you trying to mirror the plugin repository?
Foxytunes and Down The Mall
do we have a decent wap emulator?
Scrapbook (download an manage donwloaded homepages) and NoScript. These two extensions are the reason I switched from opera to firefox.
