To Beatles: How do I to restore the dynamic of a compressed recording using something like Sound Forge?
Thanks in advance.
Moved from off-topic forum to the general forum. Since it's about audio, it's pretty much on topic.
Isn't that like trying to put Humpty Dumpty back together again?
ok... so there's no way to do it?
Can't be done PROPERLY.

ok, not properly, but I guess there's something that can add a little dynamic... the guys that do "remastering" these days are just killing me
I tried SF clipped peak restoration (-4db) and Waves DC Offset removal + Steinberg Magneto and it adds some dynamic & warmth... also tried to mess around with Vinyl Restoration but it messes the transients... awful pre-echo.
Any suggestions? (besides buying the original, non-remastered CD?)
And if you're in UK and bump into the guy that "remastered" the Iron Maiden "enhanced CD's" just kill him, no questions aked. Thanks
