CUERipper 2.2.5 is unable to detect my USB DVD/CD drive, instead my drive it reports 'Failed to load ripper module' CUERipper 2.2.4 works fine. Is this a known error or bug?

This error can occur when CUERipper cannot access the plugins folder. Specifically:
One reason may be that the file and/or folder was blocked by Windows (http://cue.tools/wiki/CUETools_Download#Known_Issues_When_Unpacking_the_Archive)

I guess it's best to unblock ALL CUETools files to solve issues like this, but you can't unblock them by selecting multiple files afaik. Doing this for each file one-by-one is pff.... (I am more of a Linux guy, this typical Windows behaviour still surprises me after all those years...).

Try Unblocking the downloaded zip before unpacking.
