Listening to vinyl makes you better than those who don't listen to vinyl

The way he gazes adoringly at his collection hits a little close to home.. I've caught myself "just looking" so many times.

He doesn't just look - he smells it. He savours the smell.

For all it's undoubted sonic superiority, I can't imagine anyone ever wanting to sniff my Sansa Clip. Ewww!

(and children, if anyone ever offers to let you sniff their Sansa Clip, get out of there. Don't walk, RUN!).

I will admit to looking at some of my old records and wondering who else played them, and when. Did people dance to them? People sometimes say "if walls could speak" - but if old records could speak...

Cheers,
David.

Yapping about sound quality when you have a Bose  901 sitting on your mantle? Im sorry, sir, you have no credibility.

Have you ever heard blue vinyl on Bose?

"If you don't own this record you might as well come to terms with the fact that" unlike me, you have a life, got out sometimes and quite probably have a loving girlfriend whose attention diverts you from becoming a freak like me.

So have I, but with my CD-collection.

Well I just got done humping 300 records 1.5 miles up the hill to the 2nd Hand Record shop. 4 trips!

Not only do I feel fitter I'm got £235 I never thought I'd see again.

All Hail the vinyl revival! Long my it continue.

And the post-modern, youtube posting ironyistas who promulgate it. Cheers comrades.

I thought it was quite witty. It is a bit witty? Isn't it? Come on...?

That's actually what I meant as I have zero vinyl, but it amounts to the same. Love my shiny discs!

The background song; him bobbing his head like that tell us so.

Even though that guy seems to really mean business, in his own messed up (not to say something else) way.

The understated acting and exaggerated claims contrasted well. The body language while eating the muffin made me laugh the most. The only thing missing was a cat or dog in some kind of costume and he would have covered just about every vinyl aficionado I know

i.e., that blazé make-believe attitude of someone who knows he's against all the (logical) odds but carries on looking down on others regardless.

Edit: (sigh) forgot the smiley again!

My LP collection isn't that big. Most LPs that I own, I have inherited from my late dad. I don't know how many I have, but those would be ~150 LPs.

They live in a shelve.

I've build the preamp with the RIAA normalization myself.

...soo, what gives‽

I know plenty of collectors with girlfriends/wives/families.

Most collectors would say that these other people in their lives have impeded their collecting, but some would see it as an acceptable compromise.

I only know of a few couples where both are interested. Some of them are even quite normal.

I know quite a few people whose houses have been taken over by the hobby though.

This range is probably true for almost every hobby out there. With "collecting" hobbies it's interesting that men outnumber women so dramatically (unless we're talking about shoes or clothes  ).

Cheers,
David.

Having a vintage turntable around is fun for albums older friends donate to me that I'm not enough of a fan to go out and buy. Tubular bells for example. Or bat out of hell. Sorry but my Zeppelin Complete Studio Collection on compact disc destroys a bunch of 35 year old vinyl any day...

And all hail those who offload their LPs to a shop (where I can browse through them) instead of just dumping them (like my former brother-in-law, who had some seriously good stuff).
