Title: Wrapster equivalent for MiniDisc?
Post by: Zaraza on 2003-06-06 13:49:33
Some of you may remember from the early days of Napster a program called Wrapster that was used for sharing programs by turning them info fake MP3s (i.e. an MP3 header was added and .mp3 extension)...once downloaded you could use Wrapster to turn it back into the original file (useful at a time when Napster only allowed sharing of MP3s).

I was wondering if there is something similar for the SOny Minidisc, i.e. something that could create "fake" ATRAC files and convert them back to the original.

Basically, I'd like to use the MD as backup tool or a portable small drive...but alas, Sony only allows ATRAC files to be stored on MiniDiscs...

Sorry, even if you could convert data into "fake" ATRAC files to go on a MiniDisc, it wouldn't do you any good........MD's cannot upload files due to Sony's copyright paranoia. Thus, you would never be able to get your data back onto a computer.

Oh well...too bad. I still like the MD for what it's supposed to do, just a pity it's crippled when it could have been so much more useful...
