Can I use Milkdrop with foobar2000 on Windows 8?

I'm running foobar2000 on Windows 8 just fine.

I can't seem to find a way to use Milkdrop with Foobar2000 in Windows 8.  Is there a way?

Thanks

Yes.  I had installed foo_vis_shpeck 0.3.7, however, I inferred from your post that it should have worked in Windows 8.  So I just redid the install and it comes close to working.

I get a "Milkdrop Error" that states:

"Your hardware says that it supports shader model 3.0, but it doesn't seem to do it properly.
You might want to try updating your display driver to the latest WHQL driver..."

This PC has an Intel processor that uses HD3000 for its graphics.

The Milkdrop visualization in XBMC works great.  And the Milkdrop visualization in Winamp works fine.  So it would seem that the video drivers are available.  But in Foobar2000 v1.2.6, I play a song and select 'View-Visualizations-Shpeck - Start 'MilkDrop v2.22 / MilkDrop v2.22' I get the 'Milkdrop Error' regarding updating my WHQL driver in Foobar2000 v1.2.6 in Windows 8.

Perhaps one odd issue I see is within the MilkDrop 2 Configuration 'Common Settings', No 'Display Adapter' shows up for 'Desktop Mode', 'Fullscreen', nor for 'Windowed settings'

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thank you,

Frank

fb2k's General forum isn't meant to discuss 3rd party plugins questions, so please use Shpeck's own discussion thread for further assistance, Frank.

Some posts there deal with your issue, the recommendation has been to not only update the graphic card drivers but also DirextX (Win7).

HA member viktor had made a tutorial available on how to use MilkDrop in foobar2000 on Windows 8, it isn't online at the moment but it shows that Shpeck works on Microsoft's latest OS.

Since there may be several other requirements that you may miss I would suggest to read the Shpeck thread and to ask anew then if you still have questions.

Thanks for mentioning. Just so you know, I've updated the link, so now it's back online. And yes, it works either on Windows 8 or 8.1.
