before i buy a ODAC to replace my MOTU Ultralight i'm not sure if it will connect properly to powered speakers.
my Adam Sub8 takes either 2x balanced XLR or 2x unbalanced RCA inputs.
which ODAC version should i buy, which cables and are there any other concerns? i'm a little confused with the output jack of the ODAC.
from http://www.yoyodyneconsulting.ca/pages/ODAC.html (http://www.yoyodyneconsulting.ca/pages/ODAC.html)
"Alternately, the ODAC can be mounted in a small custom enclosure and used as a standalone DAC with the O2 or any amplifier that has a 2vrms LINE-IN port. You may mount a 3.5mm connector (footprint on the board) or take the LINE-OUT to a pair of panel mounted RCA connectors. "
thanks for your help.
greetings,
david
nevermind, someone helped me in IRC

+ RCA cables should do the trick
A regular ODAC with a 1/8" jack socket (http://www.jdslabs.com/item.php?fetchitem=46) and a cable with a male 1/8" jack plug on one end and two male RCA connectors on the other end (http://www.thomann.de/gb/cordial_cfy_3_wcc.htm) would work, no need for any modifications.
Just out of interest mate,
What went wrong with the Ultralite?

Why are you replacing the Motu with an ODAC?
Just curious.
Te Motu Ultralight looks very nice but their specs for the headphone jack are a little light. Doesn't mean its bad, just means it is mystery meat.
That can be addressed with some simple experiments. I can't found where anybody has done them.
Are you caught up in a spasm of headphone amplifier churn? ;-)
I've got an Ultralite. Which is why I;m also interested in why the OP wishes to replace it with an ODAC.
I've never had any issues with he Headphone out. I do use the famously undemanding Sennheiser HD25 as my main cans though.

If you could run a source impedance measurement on your Ultralite, you might shed some light on the OP's question.
