Foobar2000 Global Hotkeys and Open Office

Dear Foobar2000 forum members,
I was very happy to see that Foobar2000 is now available for Ubuntu. However, when I installed and tested it, the "Global Hotkeys" that I set up were not recognized by Open Office, meaning that I had to click out of the Open Office window and into the Foobar2000 window in order to action them, e.g. F8 to Play/Pause a recording while I'm typing in Office.
Can anyone tell me how I can get Open Office to recognize Foobar2000's global hotkeys in the same way that MS Word does when operating under Windows?

Thanks

John
