Title: what is "no masking of low level tones" ?
Post by: ksr on 2012-03-08 06:01:17
hi guys,

do you know what is "no masking of low level tones" in signal processing of audio tones, how can we verify that, whether masking is present or not?

Thanks in advance...

Where did you read that?  Masking ("drowning-out") occurs naturally (in our perception) and I have no idea how you can get "no masking".

If you are at a loud concert or near a jet airplane and you can't hear the person talking next to you, that's masking.  The sound of the person's voice is 100% there...  The soundwaves are not "killed" by the louder sound, but they are masked.
