new problem sample for WavPack lossy

I've just found this new sample while listening to early electronic music:
http://rapidshare.com/files/57539262/touch.zip.html

Successful ABX without problems on latest wavpack lossy set with -b350x4 --dns (8/8).
Successful ABX (much more subtle) with bitrate set to 400 kbps (-400x4 --dns) (15/16)
Audible problem: noise

for fun: a sample illustrating how important the benefit of --dns could be (lossless & encoded files in the archive: open and listen):

Another one, less impressive, ABXed again at 400 kbps (but this time at higher listening playback):

note: same commandline than before: -b400x4 --dns
note2: also ABXed at 320, 350 & 380 kbps: noise starts to become subtle at 380 kbps.
note3: at 250 kbps (-b250x4) the --dns switch seems to decreases the quality

Touch is also a serious problem for Dualstream. In that case the VBR drops the bitrate and worse than wavpack --dns. I abxed 8/8 on Q1, Q2 very easy and 8/8 on Q3 - a little better but not hard. I tested ABR 320 k with much better results. I think with normal listening 350 k would be fine for me but track gain could make these cases noticeable.

Haha, That touch2 sample is great! The nodns sounds pretty much like the dns version, except for that added helicopter!

Yeah, those samples are pretty difficult. Going to -hh helps on apples, and just going to -h or -x5 helps on touch. Of course, 512 kbps fixes them too...

I think that these will make great samples for the lossyFLAC concept when applied to WavPack. I think the bitrate will still be at least 400 kbps, but the quality should not be affected by the settings and hopefully easier (i.e., loud and noisy) samples will use lower bitrates.

Thanks for your interest and the samples!
