Columns UI & UPnP volume control

Good morning,
I'm using Foobar with a network amplifier (Hegel H120) using 'UPnP MediaRenderer Output'. Everything worked fine with 'Default User Interface'.
Recently, I installed 'Columns UI' and it appears that the volume button controllable with the mouse wheel no longer works. It is replaced by the 'standard' cursor which displays an error message:
"Scalar volume control not supported with this device.
Please use volume up / volume down menu commands or keyboard shortcuts."
If I uninstall 'Columns UI' it works again.
'Columns UI' is definitely involved.
I have not found any solution to this problem which is very annoying.
Does anyone know anything?
