How to suppress the playback of the Multi-Channel tracks from SACD ISO files?

When playing some (but not all) SACD ISO files (using DSD output), two versions of each track is added to the playlist. Checking the properties of the duplicate tracks, I see that one is the two-channel version the other is multi-channel. I have a 2-channel system, and so would like to suppress the playback of the multi-channel (surround) tracks.

ISO files from SACDs released in 2-channel only versions play properly. I don't know if I've got any hybrid SACD ISO files (containing both SACD and Redbook layers) to see if these exhibit a similar problem of duplicated tracks added to the playlist.

I'd be grateful for any advice or guidance members of this community could offer. More details about my F2K configuration and the track properties follow.

Thanks.

-Matt

Dunno about the actual question, but you probably wonder about the red "T"?

"DST" is a (lossless) compression codec for DSD signals, and it is apparently used on multi-channel SACDs - including the one you quote. (The "16934" is the "uncompressed" bitrate for six discrete channels; you can calculate the actual one from file size and audio length.)

Go into Preferences/Tools/SACD/

You will see "Input" about 1/2 way down the screen...

There is a drop down box called "Preferable Area"   It's probably set to "None", currently.  Click the down arrow in that box and select "Stereo".  This will present only 2-channel tracks when you add an ISO file to the play queue.

SUCCESS! That worked, Kurt7, and thanks for the help.

At first it appeared that the problem was NOT resolved, because I had already set the Preferable Area to Stereo, but was continuing to get multi-channel tracks sent to my playlists when playing an ISO file. I tried removing and re-adding the library folder entry, removing/reinstalling the SACD components, etc. I'm not certain, but I think what it took was this:
  • Remove the library entry and exit the app.
  • Delete the contents of the /profile/library folder (this is a portable install).
  • Reconfigure the library and let it scan.

Thanks again for the help, Kurt7.

And thanks, Porcus, for the explanation of DSD/DST. (I had, in fact, been wondering about that!)

Small hint from me:
In many cases it is better to select the multichannel track and set a downmix to stereo in foobar2000. For example with the SACD "Brothers in Arms", the CD layer and stereo SACD layer sound quite modest in contrast to the multichannel layer.
