The following stream plays fine on my Windows 7 PC with AIMP, MusicBee, and XMPlay, but when tried with Foobar 1.4 Final, throws the message "Network Authentication Error 80090302":
http://live.radiom.fr:80/live600.opus
No problem with other opus/flac/mp3/aac streams from dozens of stations/locations on 1.4, just this one, and only with Foobar. Any ideas what the problem may be? Thanks for your attention!
80090302 stands for SEC_E_UNSUPPORTED_FUNCTION.
Apparently the problem is somehow specific to Windows 7 - both fb2k 1.3.17 and latest fail there; yet they work fine on Windows 10.
Note that the http:// link redirects to https://, hence security errors when connecting to an apparent plain http stream.
Works for me on windows 7.
Maybe it is the same problem as with foo_discogs: TLS 1.0/1.1 vs TLS 1.2? I use this fix: https://hydrogenaud.io/index.php/topic,50523.msg959259.html#msg959259
According to SSLLabs test, live.radiom.fr supports only TLS 1.1 and TLS 1.2. The registry fix should enable them for foobar2000 in Win7.
maybe foobar2000 uses different network API than AIMP/MusicBee/XMPlay?...
I applied the reg patch described by Rollin, with the edit suggested by Ivqcl in the other thread(used just Client), and VOILĂ€, connection made!
Thanks to Peter, Rollin, and Ivqcl for the replies and fix, man I never would have found this myself. I'm curious about how the other players were able to work around this, but I'll settle for success :) Thanks again gentlemen.
The other players probably bother to implement their own HTTPS stack with OpenSSL or something, instead of using native Win32 security APIs.
That explains it, thanks kode54!
Thank you everyone for this great post - same error was stopping me from playing soundcloud links with foobar and component. got stuck with network issue until I realized it is OS related not Foobar / component related
and yes win7 is outdated, but in runs on my atom fanless CPU just fine :)
