But the station could be much louder without even a shadow of lowering the quality!
In fact, on most clipressed album CDs the maximum samples already aren't +/-32768; the sample in my "clipped sample and its declipped version"-thread is a good example. Clipping occurs only at 0dB, but then they run some other processing; DRC, EQ, normalizing down, etc.
I know that I know nothing. But how can I then know that ?

Just to add a little bit to this post, this webpage

That's my fault - I pointed Steve (a/k/a "DAB sounds worse than FM" a/k/a digitalradiotech author) to Roberto's excellent site.

I've also pointed the ASA there...
