MPEG4 Parametric Coder

Hi,

I was just looking at the MPEG4 Parametric Coder.. I wondered how good is the encoded audio quality is..

It consisted of 2 major tools - a LPC tool to modeled speech and a HILN for musical / general audio... The interesting thing about this coder is that it switches between LPC & HILN and works in the bitrates regions of about 2 - 4 kbps...

I wondered if this is the state of the art speech + music/noise  audio coder available ? It seemed to be a highly complex coder for speech..

Is there anyone familar with the MPEG4 Parametric Coder?
