intensity stereo processing in MP3

Hi All,

I was a bit confused with the processing of Mp3s in case intensity stereo is present. I am not getting any idea why the hell is_pos is used and how is calculated. Is there anyone who can explain it in a better way? I want to know how is_pos is calulated in all cases.
