2 noobie questions about lossless and streaming

When APE says that there isn't support for streaming, what exactly does this mean? I have around 10-12 cds I ripped in APE a while ago, that I don't have anymore (stolen from car).

Now what I want to do is setup a PC seperate from my hifi headphone computer on a different floor for using with speakers. I want to stream the music through a wireless router to the PC upstairs through Foobar.

Would this cause any problems with those albums that are in APE? Would transcoding to FLAC or WavPack bring back streaming?
