Best free software for ripping DVDs?

I want to rip a few of my DVDs to my hard drive but I'm not quite sure where to start. What are people's opinions on the best (high quality, easy to use) free encoders out there? I'd also like to have a program that is capable of just extracting the audio, into .flac format, for instance.

Thanks a lot!

Sorry, no ... but what is that for? Are you talking about current DVDs?

Using Foolbar2000, I can play aiff and wav files up to 2496 on the cdrom but I need to use WinDVD to play DADs (DVD-V at 2496). Would be good to convert 2496 VOB files to wav and play thru' one player only.

I can convert VOB at 48/26 and upsample, but there will be loss in quality and there is no point.

DADs are 2496 DVD-V audio discs and ripping the audio should reduce file size.

SACDs can't be ripped at present. Someone with the knowledge should look at this.
