Adding album cover art

Hi! I just downloaded the app after reading several recommendations. I searched to see if this issue had already been discussed, but the threads I found didn't quite get to the nuances of my issue.

For current music bought off of Amazon and downloaded to my device, the album art displays just fine. However, I have a lot of music from older CDs before the album art was embedded, as well as a number of more obscure artists / songs. I can find the album art online and download it to my device just fine, but I can't figure out how to make it appear alongside the album / track. What am I missing here?

Thanks in advance!

Probably a naming problem?
My cover art is stored as cover.jpg (plus additional stuff like back.jpg or cd.jpg).
The cover.jpg are recognized and displayed, the back.jpg or cd.jpg aren't.

In case Peter reads this: it would be nice to have a pinch-to-zoom feature for the cover art.
Also recognition for other files like back.jpg, cd.jpg... and the ability to swipe thru them would be cool.

Yes! Thank you, Pyr. We're definitely on the right track. I renamed the picture files to "cover.jpg" in each folder, and for the most part, they show up now.

While the albums display in album view, and while I can see the photo attached to the individual songs inside of the album itself, they aren't showing up for some when I hit Shuffle. Any idea why?

We're definitely a lot further along than we were before, but I'm still a little stuck here. Please let me know what you think. Thanks!

The album covers show up for me when I use "Shuffle All Albums" or "Shuffle All Tracks".
For "Shuffle All Albums" they only show up once for the first title of the album, which is intended.

Are all songs stored on your smartphone or are some probably on a FTP source?

The songs are on my smartphone. However, once I exited and re-entered the program, I discovered that most of the songs now have the album viewable on the playlist. There are only a small handful of songs that don't show the art for whatever reason, and that's livable. Thanks again so much for your help!

P.S. I discovered that some of the files that were giving me trouble were PNG files. After I found JPG files and added those instead, almost all of my album cover art problems went away! :)

Huh, that's somewhat odd since AFAIK the desktop version supports PNG cover art (along with WebP and GIF files).
Maybe Peter reads this and fixes/implements the other file formats.

I haven't had any issues with png files, but gif covers are not loaded. Android 1.4.0 preview 2023-07-02

Didn't expect GIF cover files to be a thing, I assume so did Peter.
You could convert them to PNG or (what I would do) go to albumartexchange.com or discogs.com and look for higher quality album art.

It's a digital release and the gif is the original art so I'd prefer not to convert it.
