Channel equalizer DSP?

Hi everyone,

I am noticing that my L/R ear do not perceive all frequencies in the same way, hence most of my music is slightly off centre.

Can anyone suggest an equalizer DSP for foobar 0.9 to adjust L/R channel separately? If no such DSP exists, then perhaps a DSP with the simple L/R balance adjustment would do.

Also, I would like to get your opinions/suggestions on the following chain of DSPs for recoding stereo into stereo for headphones (in-ear-canal ones).

Where in the chain would you put the Balance/Equalizer DSP?

Stage 1: Resampler 96k + Channel mixer 6 channels + Dolby headphone wrapper + Advanced Limiter + RG calculation
Stage 2: Album RG (apply gain only) with +7db preamp (for mobile player) + Advanced limiter + Resampler 44k

Any suggestions for optimal Channel Mixer settings are welcome.

You can do it with convolver 

Where in the chain would you put the Balance/Equalizer DSP?

Stage 1: Resampler 96k + Channel mixer 6 channels + Dolby headphone wrapper + Advanced Limiter + RG calculation
Stage 2: Album RG (apply gain only) with +7db preamp (for mobile player) + Advanced limiter + Resampler 44k

Just before advanced limiter
And maybe it's better to swap "Advanced limiter" and "Resampler 44k" ? I mean: Album RG (apply gain only) with +7db preamp (for mobile player) + Resampler 44k + Convolver + Advanced limiter.

2 questions:
1) Can it also replace the channel mixer + dolby headphones?
2) How do I create those left and right convolution files to match my hearing?

1) Don't know. Are these DSP linear (and time-invariant)?
2) Any way you like  BTW, Winamp has DSP plugin dsp_supereq, that can adjust L/R channels separately.

Why after resampler? - I put the 1st resampler in to increase precision, then the second resampler at the end  to bring it back to CD quality when all DSPs have done their job

If all files that pass through convolver have the same frequency (96 kHz) - of course, convolver can be before resampler.

Well, upon reading on convolver I am not entirely sure what its methodology is, i.e. how impulse files are applied to the audio track - hence I am not sure how to create a desired effect with the convolver -  perhaps someone can point me to a good guide

RE: Winamp dsp - I can then use the winamp wrapper + winamp supereq, I suppose

I'm sorry, but doing this with Convolver is laaaaaaaaame. That's kind of like saying "you can do this if you write your own fb2k plugin!"

Are there any free VST plugs which can do this?

Foo_crossover can do those things, but it seems doesn't work with last version.

Has the OP tried the Winamp DSP Bridge plugin with Shibatch EQ? It's not a very elegant solution as I don't think you can configure it in real-time when bolted on the side of Foobar2000, but it's an 18-band discrete L/R equaliser nonetheless. This process may involve installing Winamp to get access to its plugins. I have it installed already so I wouldn't know about that.

better not.

not that only it isn't working, but it crashes foobar very bad.

maybe another recompile


it crashed foobar when i try to add xover in dsp chain
i had to manually end foobar process
don't remember circumstances, but it was vista sp1 and i didn't try twice knowing that it was recompile

that was the first time i tried
trying now it's ok somehow
