Title: quicktime, encoding
Post by: smok3 on 2004-12-07 15:53:32
i have some wips that are 4:3 ar, i need to encode them to something watchable at around 700 kbps (video part), so far i tested:

sorenson 3 (qt pro)
sorenson pro (sorenson squeeze)
apple mpeg4 (qt pro)
3ivx mpeg4 (3ivx.com)

is there anything iam missing?  (i have used 512x384 square pixels as input.)

I thought that qt pro includes sorenson 1 basic.
You can you use xvid, divx or nero recode if you limit them to simple profile (no b-frames, gmc, qpel and mpeg-quants) and mux into mp4.

with this settings xvid and 3ivx are pretty close qualitywise (thought xvid still wins a bit imho), so i guess i will just use 3ivx (simpler procedure).
