Is my rip accurate?

Hey guys. Sorry if i'm posting in the wrong section.

I'm ripping all my CD collection, and so far so good, i'm using EAC + LAME to do that.

On my latest rip, i got "Some tracks could not be verified as accurate". The CD is pretty good, does have the occasional scratch or two, but i've ripped succesfully pretty worse CD's without any errors.

My question is, how can i trust that the rip is OK? is it worth to go use CUETools (which i'm a newbie at) to 'repair' it? and how do i trust the repair is accurate?

here's the log:

Used output format              : LAME MP3 Encoder
Selected bitrate                : 128 kBit/s
Quality                         : High
Add ID3 tag                     : Yes
Command line compressor         : C:\Users\tiago\Downloads\LAME\lame.exe
Additional command line options : -m j -V 0 -q 0 --lowpass 19.5 --vbr-new -b 32

With those setting I would never ask you to share me a .mp3...

1º at all, why 128 kbps ?? what´s your matter with 320 kbps ??
2º Why "quality high" ?? it is the -q0 u can see above...
3º what r u trying to do with a - lowpass at 19.5 ?? i knew 20.5 was the default value.
4º - mj ?? join stereo... it is discutible... i prefer - ms
5º VBR, it is your choise, the mine always will be CBR.

U have to configure your CD R-RW drive in the option tab of EAC... and enable all... je je. It is turning too large to explain just now each items.

You cannot repair lossies.

My question is, how can i trust that the rip is OK? is it worth to go use CUETools (which i'm a newbie at) to 'repair' it? and how do i trust the repair is accurate?
It has a few samples wrong. Whether that is "OK" depends on ...
Whether it is worth to use CUETools? Up to you, it isn't that hard. But you cannot repair a lossy anyway.
How to trust the repair is accurate? If it verifies AccurateRip - with more confidence than "your own submission" - then someone else got the same result. (I take it that the "2/899" in the CUETools database are your own submissions. AccurateRip does at least take measures to prevent multi-submissions from the same computer. Note CUETools is updated when you submit, so you will see your own submission; AccurateRip is only updated every few weeks, so you won't.)

And, ignore the reply from nuker. Seriously.

Re: Is my rip accurate?

To use CUETools, you would have to rip to uncompressed WAV or lossless compression (such as FLAC). After MP3 compression, data is lost so the rip can no longer be verified by the databases. You probably won't be able to perceive the difference of so few samples but as Porcus pointed out, that's up to you.

The external compression settings in EAC are not configured properly. I suggest ignoring nuker's comments and reading the following instead
https://hydrogenaud.io/index.php/topic,57617.0.html
http://wiki.hydrogenaud.io/index.php?title=EAC_and_Lame
http://wiki.hydrogenaud.io/index.php?title=LAME

You cannot submit identical data using the same hardware to the CUETools DataBase more than once so I don't see the "2/899" coming from your own submissions unless you tried ripping from multiple computers or drives.

AccurateRip is a wonderful thing!!!   But, I never had an audible error when EAC reported "no errors".

I've even had a few with reported errors where I couldn't hear a defect.    If it sounds OK I try  to get over it, and after awhile I don't even remember which CDs got errors.

I ripped most of my CDs before AccurateRip was introduced and since then, I've ripped a few that were not in the AccurateRip database...

Oh...  In a couple of cases I've "fixed" glitches with an audio editor.  (That was before Cue Tools Repair, but I'd do it again if I had to.)     Of course, that's not digitally-perfect but in many cases it can be audibly-perfect.

1º it's EAC's "default" value, and from what i know it does "-b 128", so if my additional command lines say "-b 32", i guess they "takeover" the 128 value, right? i don't want CBR 320kbps since i think it's a waste of space and a overkill.
2º what's wrong with using q0 ? didn't understand ?
3º it's a value i saw somewhere in this forum i think, and i know for a fact that release groups also use that value. should i use default 20.5? why not this one?
4º from what i read joint-stereo is better overall
5º you prefer 320 kbps, sure, i don't see the point on doing that, it's a overkill, plus, from the average kbps i see on most rips, they are rarely above 250 kbps.

hey guys, thanks for the help so far.

i've now set the encoder on EAC to "User defined" and chose lame.exe, i noticed in fact EAC was sending the -b 128 to the encoder, which is unnecessary.

i have one question, tho. i looked at the full command line switch, of LAME, can you tell me what is the difference between using "-h" (high quality) and "q0" ? for what i can understand, i don't need to use "-h" if i understand the concept of using "q0" or "q2", etc, right? or are they different parameters?

as to the AccurateRip "errors", i think i'll let them pass, as much as it bothers me, lol.

thanks in advance guys, really appreciate it !!

Please just ignore his post, he doesn't understand LAME settings nor has provided any evidence he can tell any difference between anything :)

-h is the same as -q2. You shouldn't use both -h and -q[0..9].
-q3 will be used by default if you don't specify a setting.
