Cool, thanks for sharing. I wanted to switch to Mac a while ago, and decided not to -- and I am not kidding you, foobar2000 was the main reason I stuck with Windows. Nice to know that it works ok on OS X. Maybe I will move to fruity-land after all.

You should definitely take a look at wineskin (http://wineskin.urgesoftware.com/tiki-index.php). It is very easy to install, set up and update foobar2000 on OS X with that. With the new macdriver (enabled by default now) it is even possible to use drag'n'drop.

I'm interested to know more, because I too have thought about switching to a Mac over the years but I just love foobar2000 too much to be forced to switch to another player, or run VMware or whatever the equivalent is.
What are the limitations? Should I expect most of my plugins to work? Your setup looks nice and light!
Hi, I used foobar on my mac a few years ago. After a while I noticed some mp3 files were corrupted. Once switching back to windows no such problems. Any one else come across this? Foobar is the reason I'm still on windows!

Disclaimer: I don't use the Mac ecosystem (not my cup of tea). I am just trying to pass on what I know.
Not to discredit Crossover, but there might be no need to pay money if a free solution like/based upon WINE works for the individual user’s setup – as Wineskin did for me in the past.
Edit: It would have been nice if the OP had explained how they run fb2k on OS X. Posting proof that it can be done without explaining how is unproductive at best, and there’s a risk that, however unintentional, it’ll seem like showing off.
Wineskin is how I run it on OS X, when I need to ReplayGain scan or retag files in odd formats which happen to be supported by my own components. I may use Cog for regular playback, but I haven't gotten around to adding tagging support to it, which looks like it would be a major chore anyway. I may have a higher chance of convincing my teammates that OS X and/or Linux ports are in their interests as they already are in mine and many others'.
I've used foobar2000 on my Mac for years now, through the miracle of VMware Fusion.
I know, a bit hammer for a small nail. But that way I get proper drag-and-drop, optical drive support and so on. I quite like having Windows in its own Space anyway...
That said, it would be fun to be able to run it quasi-natively, but I'm not sure if components like foo_wave_seekbar in particular would work in Wine, considering its DirectX requirements.

If you're referring to foobar2000, then you're the first "elevated" forum member whom I've seen advocate Linux/OS X ports, which is encouraging. Especially with the fundraiser to develop a mobile foobar2000 platform - I don't understand why the devs are pushing for a mobile platform when countless players already exist. I feel that we could really increase our userbase if we offered Linux/OS X ports first. With that increased userbase I feel we'd have a much easier time fundraising for the project.
Maybe to some it's beating a dead horse, but anyways, it's just my two cents.

Ah man, I know what that's like. I'd like very much to switch to a Linux distro, but there's no native foobar2000, and WINE doesn't really do much for me. Actually switched back to Windows after a bit of distro-hopping because I felt uncomfortable without all that foobar2000.
Seems like no one came across the mp3 corruption issue I experienced, which is good.
For the people who have used fb2k on osx, did anyone find anything that didn't work?

Is there any way of supporting iPod syncing through foo_dop using WINE? As far as I can see, the only way to support this is through Parallels/VM.
Maybe we could find a financial way to encourage a native port for OS X...
