not take it personal.
in so many years I've seen and I believe that what the mp3 people need is
1) a decent source - media player - earphones
2) not to be afraid of the 32-320 available bitrate
3) use the available Lame switches

I deeply appreciate the improving effort of the Lame devs,
but 3.90.3 is still my fav
