xmms play .mpc file faster than it should

I use Debian (net-installer, pointing to testing branch), xmms 1.2.9, and the xmms-musepack package taken from rarewares.org
it works fine except this problem, that it plays the file faster than it should, the distance between two seconds seems to be shorten ..
don't know if anyone met this and how they solved ?
thanks

Is it just a time display error, or is the music actually sped up?  Sorry that I can't help, I'm a windoze user and a Linux n00b.

I had a similar/same problem with xmms a few days ago - mine was that every so often the playback would speed up to "catch up" to a faster clock - I figured out that it seems to be because it only plays 48 kHz and not 44.1.  So basically, my xmms output is worthless and I just use foobar2000 + SSRC.  Unless there's an xmms output that can resample, I'm not sure there's an easy solution to this problem.  If you're using ALSA, you could try playing with the ALSA configuration (/etc/asound.conf) to make it resample everything to 48 kHz (hint: use the dmix) - see the ALSA page for how to do this.  At least xmms isn't as bad as alsaplayer, which just plays 44.1 kHz stuff at 48 kHz, giving everything the chipmunk effect.

The Crossfader output plugin can resample to 48khz, and output to either builtin oss or external oss/alsa/whatever plugin you want.

Just turn off all crossfading features if you don't want them.
Yatta!

Great, thanks for the info mlejeune, it works very well now.  Although with nearly no CPU usage (<1%) on a 733 MHz Celeron, I have my doubts about the quality of the resampling that is being done :B
