CD Hardware/Software / Re: EAC, Plextor Premium II & CUE Sheet

If you want the "highest standard" rips then you really should use Secure + Test & Copy. But if drive wear & tear is a concern then you need to make a compromise, which is what you've done. Having said that,. I've never had a drive fail on me in 20 years of ripping CDs.

Also, this is inaccurate: "I have chosen to Rip all my discs in IMG mode ( 1 Track) as this seems a more accurate method over single track mode".

Creating individual tracks with EAC with the correct settings will yield perfect rips, and also give you a visual tracklist, and no need to split them, and all players will play them (some players don't read cue sheets nor embedded cue sheets).

Yup...I heard of this playonlinux like 10 years ago, it isn't recommended often. Hm. A proper linux version would be great, but I guess it is not entirely open source eh?
The licence is GNU GENERAL PUBLIC LICENSE   Version 3, 29 June 2007, so copyleft.

I prefer work with wine directly but playonlinux offer an easy solution to use windows programs without complications and gives a good result with foobar2000.especially..

Also noticed that if your concern is fully open source foobar2000 is not open source, only freeware.

Big thanks to you, unlike many forums the answers were helpful and without condescension...which is a heavy problem on some general computer help forums that will remain nameless, so many people assuming you just need to search "google" more (when I post, I've done a lot of searching) or that you deserve not to know the answer because they didn't like how you asked the question...I'll stop there ;)

No problem, glad to help

I'll look into these other solutions. Although I will try with CrossOver first, since I bought it in January, I know what people think of closed source linux software, but until Wine is as great as CrossOver, I'll use it, which I've been doing ever since I became mainly a linux user, I stick to Debian and the Debian family...but sometimes I wish I learned how to use Arch, where everything works despite what version of anything you try to install, it's just...slackware complicated in terminal to me and that's too much heh. I'll tell you what happens with this.

If you have the licence crossover is a good software and like playonlinux makes the thing more easy to people.

Choose what best suits you.

With all of then you will have a good experience. Fooobar2000 works perfect in wine.

I was wondering just one thing though, can I move the rights to foobar2k so that it can see the drives? Change its user group or such, I assume 775 would be needed for this, I'm comfortable with chmod.

The rights of foobar2000 are only a problem when you use the snap package due the snap package nature of sanfboxing.
If you install it with any of the others methods it will have the same rights than the user you run it with.
If your user can access it foobar will do too.

CUERipper can however split to tracks upon ripping, it does not need to save as image. So if you say, want only the last track - you will have to let it rip and then delete all the others.

There are several "special cases" where one does things the other doesn't. For example:
* CUERipper can be invoked by command-line. For those who care.
* CUERipper can detect those very few pesky cases where a CD has pre-emphasis flag in subchannel but not in table of contents.
* EAC has several settings to deal with other troublemakers.

CUETools / CUETool how do you extract to multi tracks ?
Last post by JohnnySH -
Hello Guys

thank you in advance for any help

Ok I'm using EAC to rip my CDs to one wav file + cue sheet

I now need to extract multiple wav files from the single  (Whole Album) Wav file without damaging any audio files

I was using an easy to use program called medieval cue sheet splitter that worked well, but been informed it damages audio etc so staying away from that program

Can someone please explain how to do the same thing in CueTool, I have tried everything but can't see how to extract wavs tracks ?

what am I missing to extract to multiple Wav Files

Thank You

Beta 9 & 10 fixed the "unsupported format" error in exclusive for me.   However, playback fails when transitioning between files with different bit depth or resolution when smooth seek is turned on.   No errors, but either large gaps in playback or just outputs noise.   A pause and then start again fixes it.   With smooth seek turned off I no longer have any issues.  (This in Windows 10 using a Chord Qutest DAC.)
Same here (Windows 10 21H1 x64, S.M.S.L SU-8 DAC).

Note: If you have specific questions about CUETools or CUERipper, you should start a new topic in the CUETools board.

I notice CueTools has a Ripper as you state, why should I use this over EAC, is there any advantage or disadvantage to using one or the other, so far EAC seems to be doing a very good Job :-)
If course there are advantages or disadvantages to using one or the other but I don't know if anyone has compiled a list.
One disadvantage of CUERipper is that it can't rip select tracks. You have to rip the entire CD.
One disadvantage of EAC is it has a lot of settings and can be complicated to get setup the way you want. Fewer settings in CUERipper can be a disadvantage as well because you may not be able to get it the way you had EAC setup.
And so on...

Is there anyway when ripping to auto generate a text file with the track list added to the rip folder, so I can double click and see a track list in a text file ?
This isn't automated but
Database > Export CD Information To > Text File...
will create text file with a track list and other CD information.

I am noticing Accurip text file report after I rip varies with confidence values ??
Note: You are seeing accuracy reports from two different database plugins.
One summary from the AccurateRip Database and one status report from the CUETools Database (CTDB).

So can CueTools split to individual Tracks, I have had a look but can't see how at the moment ?
Yes, see http://cue.tools/wiki/CUETools
