Lockup when switching to/from foobar2k v0.8.3

I don't want to assume it's foobar2k but it just so happens that it happened again some 10 minutes ago and the last thing I did was switch to foobar2k.

Issue
  • Lockup.  The current song will continue to play but after it finishes it'll stop (remains 'locked' during this whole time except for mouse - read below)
  • Mouse seems to work (can move it around, clicking does nothing).
  • Keyboard does not respond (pressing NUM LOCK does not turn ON/OFF the LED; ALT-TAB, WINDOWS KEY, WINDOWS KEY+Another Key, etc does not work).
  • I haven't just let it sit for more than 1minute to see what would happen, I assume it would remain in that state so I just perform hard reboot.
  • Has happened about 3~4 times (since I last installed SP2, don't recall it happening when I was SP1).
  • Event Manager does not detect anything, Windows does not reports anything.

How to reproduce (or at least I think these are the steps that leads to it).
Basically switching to and from (last crash was switching to) foobar2k locked my system up.  Programs that I was using when I switched: Azureus and eMule variant (VeryCD).  The last crash I switched from eMule to foobar2k (switching meaning, I was messing around with eMule then I clicked foobar2k in taskbar).  foobar2k will come up but after that the above happens.  A previous crash I think involved Azureus and I want to say that I was switching from foobar2k to Azureus but I can't say for sure.  I haven't really been able to find the steps to guarantee a crash.  Things that are always running when this occur (and are usually running anyways): Azureus, Firefox, MSN Live Messenger.  Please let me know if I should try to find the exact steps (I really don't want to do it but will if that's the only way to narrow down the possible cause).

Possible Causes (or I think are possible causes or at least places to start)
foo_scheduler (2.2.1 should be latest according to this post on page 8).  But I'm not sure what switching to foobar2k has to do with this component.  This is the newest component I've added though and I did not have this issue previously on SP1 (did not have this lockup issue nor foo_scheduler).  I have had similar lockup issues with MSN Live Messenger but I don't think they occurred on SP1 (I have used foo_toaster with SP1 and am currently using it).  The issue with MSN Live Messenger is that when it changes what I'm playing it would lockup (typically only happens as I'm signing in and just loaded up foobar2k but this hasn't happened in a while - or at least I've stopped doing something that leads to it happening specifically, now I always open Azureus, foobar2k, (wait for both to load up), then Firefox and sign in to MSN Messenger (last two in no particular order).

Since being on SP2, I have probably switched to v0.9.x at least twice (or at least tried to switch) and found that it really didn't do what I was used to do with the older version (I'm completely dependent on masstagger which seems to perform the same, freedb which doesn't seem to be quite the same, and some other features I'm sure I've forgotten).  Perhaps I need to completely un-install foobar2k?  If so can I just un-install, reboot, install, add the 2 component (including iconv.dll), replace new "\Application Data\foobar2000\foobar2000.cfg" with old one?

The only other component that is "new" to a clean install would be foo_toaster (hopefully that's the only new one).

Windows XP SP2 (I have been keeping up with updates to the best of my knowledge)
DirectX 9.0c
ASUS P4P800E-Deluxe (using built-in sound card)
NVIDIA FX 5700LE
NOD32

User Interface Module: Default User Interface
Output Method: waveOut

Please let me know if I have omitted important information.  I don't really think it's foobar2k and I'm hoping that's the answer I'll get but I really don't know what's causing the problem.
