foobar and quad?

ok odd thing going on i have a couple of quad recordings foobar recognizes that they are quad in status bar reporting 4 channels BUT its only sending 2 channels to receiver its a surround receiver so it can play multi channel material , I can check what the receiver is receiving with on screen info reporting channels bit depth etc and with these 2 recordings it says its receiving 2 NOT 4 channels, i have several 5.1 audio things ripped to hd and they play flawless ..confused??

Are you perhaps using SPDIF connection? Such a cable doesn't have bandwidth to transmit four channels losslessly.

DSPs and output method can affect this. Possibly channel configuration too. I just tried with the quad channel sample file drmapan.wav from http://www-mmsp.ece.mcgill.ca/Documents/AudioFormats/WAVE/Samples.html and four channel output works flawlessly.
ok now maybe im getting somewhere , I got this error tryin to play that "Unrecoverable playback error: Unsupported stream format: 22050 Hz / 24-bit / 4 channels

Your device may not support 22kHz sample rate. Try adding a resampler to 44.1 kHz to test the sample I linked.

The sample you linked has front center and rear center as the additional channels. All the channels play fine here.
