Is there a way to let foobar2k show the total of a playlist, in megabytes?

I want the total, if possible, and not for single items.

The built in Playlist Manager does this. You can open a popup window via the View menu or add it as a Default UI element in layout editing mode. Note that the Total size column is not enabled by default - you have to right click the column header for that.
