I have just tested "Database Search Toolbar Demo" which has the "search as u type" feature for the database. It doesn't even take a second to search for an "a".

Version 2.7 is out. Check first post for details and download.
Please note :"Search as you type" now implemented without restrictions induced some significant code reorganization. Please consider this version as a beta and report any issue (or even correct behaviour) that I will fix promptly. I'd also like to know how this new feature behaves with large data bases.

first thoughts:

1. There's a 'ding' when I press ESC or when pressing ENTER (with or without found items in playlist)
2. Feature request (I think someone said it already): with 'Autosearch' and 'Inline search' enabled, could ENTER be remapped to playing focused item? (no need to press enter anyway)
3. Feature request: wouldn't be better when showing the dropdown menu (with Alt+down) to have history items, then separator, then preferences, options, etc. (just a thought ... according to my taste )
4. Feature request: autoselect previous search string (I rarely search twice for the same )
5. The 'error' color shouldn't stay that way ONLY when quicksearch toolbar is focused? (and reset to default color when not focused?)

Thank you for support and great work.

17k??? Mine is 1.5 Mb with just 1806 songs... and BTW ... quicksearch has no problems with it

The annoying sounds are now removed. Please redownload from first post.
As for request #2 above you can use Escape and then Enter.

Excellent work!  It's almost perfect on my 3800 song db.  Thanks for implementing find as you type for the db.
One bug though:  When I type in "darkest hour", the name appended to the playlist only shows "darkest hou"  It doesnt allow any more letters for this combination of letters for some reason.

Also, is it possible to make the delay customizable?

Again great work.
- FLAC/200GB external
- AAC 128 vbr/local
- iPod Nano 2G 8GB

Hmmm ... i thought it was fixed but apprently when I corrected the annoying sound (see a few posts above), the bug reappeared. I will investigate

Will the 2.7 features be available to 0.8.3 users?

On W2K and latest fb2k: If I start your plugin via menu or keyboard shortcut, the appearing window is about 5 times as high as the text area. There is a big grey area below the text field. It is not resizable.

Hi NEMO7538,

Great, great, great plugin

I really like the context menu search, 'same genre', 'same artist', etc... I've just one question, it's there a way (or any plans to implement if it can't, be done) to make custom context menu searchs? i.e. I'll like to search for same tempo, or same styles (it's a multiple tag that you can get from AMG), etc...

Thanks.

Wow, man.  Thanks for the speedy feature additions.

Feature request...  This would rock my world so much.  Can you change the "grey" edge style?  I think it makes sense.

Thanks for reporting ... will fix for V2.8. Please also note that the plugin as an independant window is unstable in this version. I would recommend using it as a toolbar for the moment, until the next version.

When it is stabilized yes.

Hi, thanks for the great work on the plugin. I just have a couple of feature requests/bug reports:

Bug: When the mouse is moved quickly over the toolbar the little 'down-arrow' stays red. Maybe a call to TrackMouseEvent and looking out for WM_MOUSELEAVE would help here?

Feature request: When in inline search mode, blank the box when the user presses enter (ie. to play the track their search found)

Feature request: Use database search API that foosion's demo component uses. It's mighty fast.

Feature request: Steal the icon from same database search demo toolbar, it's more shiny than the current one.

I had noticed already .... thanks for the solution, I will investigate.

Users should use Escape + Enter to play the track. I'm a bit reluctant to change the behaviour / keys function according to what setup is active, it might be confusing.

I will investigate, as soon as the source code is available.

That's what I used in the first place but this shiny version doesn't look great on a dark background, so I changed it.

Is it an intentional behaviour, that quicksearch for same... e.g. artist (the one from the context menu) searches the whole database and ignores the "search in..." settings?

Yes

- I too would like to see integrated search, as a toolbar.

Right click any toolbar / Toolbars / Quick Search Toolbar
Alternatively you may go to Preferences / Display / Columns UI / Layout and modify the current layout (or create a new one) mostly by using right click

This is what I see:

Amazing work Nemo, nicely fast on my (reasonably large) DB and the functionality is flawless.  Thanks again.

This problem should be fixed now. Please redownload from first post and note that you will need to run foobar once without the pluginfor the window size to be restored to normal.
I would advise everyone as well to redownload from first post as a potential crash was discovered in the previous version. The correct version should be 2.7c. Thanks

...and answer "no" on foobars question if it should keep its settings...

Thanks, works now.

Question: Could you turn off the delay when searching in playlists AND autosearch is turned on? Or do you think it is necessary there as well (as in database search)?

This strange bug should be fixed now (happenned with search strings of length 12 and 26).
Can you please redownload from first post and confirm? Thanks.
