Thank you for the inline search!

And a feature request:
When inline-search is used, please allow to highlight only the first track matching the query; then when hitting enter again, highlight the next track and so on.
Always defragment your MP3s to avoid subtle lack in harmonics.

first problems...

Let's supose I have 2 tracks that contain the term 'godsmack' one somewhere at the beginning of playlist, the other somewhere at the end.
If I use inline search it highlights the first file and if I press key down selection goes to the next track in the playlist ... not the second result with godsmack
This is normal behaviour I'dd say but I'dd really like the functionality from foo_playlistfind where pressing key down would cycle through the results... (without losing focus from search box of playlistfind    )

I hope I made myself understood... and mostly hope you care enough about my request and implement it

Edit: Tri was faster with pretty much the same request ...

Cycling through the results by using down and up arrow keys is the last step to replace playlist_find.

Jumping from one result to the next (or the previous) is available through down (up) arrow key.

Obviouslly, for it to work, you should uncheck the "set focus on search result" option in the preferences, because once the focus is set on the playlist window and you do something (enter or arrow keys), the selection is lost. This has nothing to do with my plugin.

Just as a reminder: in playlist find, focus was always kept on the toolbar.

When inline-search is used, please allow to highlight only the first track matching the query; then when hitting enter again, highlight the next track and so on.

Use up/down arrow instead.

Cycling through the results by using down and up arrow keys is the last step to replace playlist_find.

Already available .... up/down arrow, provided that the focus stays on the toolbar. So if you want this functionality I would recommend.
  • uncheck the "set focus to search results" function
  • perform your search with "enter"
  • browse the results with up/down arrow
  • when you are finished, use the "Escape" key to focus on search results

Version 2.4 is out. Please download from first post.
I have added two functions frequently requested :
  • Option to automatically focus on the search results (make mouseless utilization possible)
  • Option to perform playlist search "inline" (results are simply highlited .... playlistfind behaviour with up/down arrow key to navigate the results).
Please provide feeback / bug reports, specially for the latest.
Thanks for filling my request.  You're awesome.

I don't like to repeat a request but would to mention one advantage more of search-as-you-type for searching in active playlist:

You would not loose oppurtunity to create search result playlist, you could leave "set focus to search result" checked and due to that you wouldn't need the "Escape" key.

Search as you type would not change behaviour of windows focus.

BTW Version 2.5 is out with menu key (Alt) and options to override "Search in ..." settings (Shift+Enter=Force search in playlist, Ctrl+Enter=Force search in all playlists, Ctrl+Shift+Enter=Force search in database).

Wow... you are pretty fast  Too bad I don't have any more requests (for now )

Edit: and ... big big thanks

Still no search-as-you-type
I've been using the test version of the database search toolbar and I love the autosearch feature, but of course it doesn't have all the other great features of quicksearch

Still no search-as-you-type

anyway should be added as an option ... not default behaviour ... cause it's a bit slugish on large playlists

Ive got a database of about 30,000 songs and the database search demo is nearly instant for me as I type. I'm not even on a particularly powerful PC (it's a 1.86ghz Pentium-M notebook with 1gig of ram).

Hello,
thanks for this plugin!

Yes, of course, there is not only "thank you", but also a feature request

Would it be possible to have auto-hiding toolbar? I'd like the searchbox to be hidden by default. When I press activation hot-key, it would show up. Then, when I press Escape, it would hide again.

Or maybe a better place to request this is ColumnsUI itself: it could show hidden panel when it becomes active...

The way I use this is I have search results always sent to a playlist called "Search Results," with nothing appended.  When I do "Search in playlist," a successful search will delete the "Search Results" playlist.  Can this be prevented?

One more thing:
1. do inline search
2. wait for current song to end and next song start
3. search is cancelled... and moreover: pressing enter doen't search again

The option "reset search string when successfull" does not seem to work anymore

edit: and I don't get a result when searching via context menu "quicksearch for same..."

Very minor bug: selection of search results inline using up/down arrows doesn't work.

Great plugin apart from that!!

Fixed in Version 2.6, which also includes a "search as you type" option for inline playlist searching. Please download from first post.

The new version doesn't clear the search box when successful anymore.

as usual ... I have a keyboard problem (...don't get mad at me )

Tab key seems to be blocked when reaching this plugin panel. I use it to cycle through the various panels.
I hope this can be solved. Thank you.
