Foobar is one of popular names for metasyntactic variables (used in metalanguages, documantation, examples, temporary names etc.).
Also programmers use it when name doesn't really matter, or they can't think of any smarter one

In filenames, a common convention is that any filename beginning with a metasyntactic-variable name is a scratch file that may be deleted at any time.

So backup your foobar2000.exe now, cause it can be gone anytime soon

Metasyntactic, Messer.

However, in response to your quote, look at all these foo_* libraries in the Components directory. Does that mean they're gonna all get deleted?

(Note to newbies: This is a joke.)

Yeah... This is one of those things that's been discussed and explained a bazillion times, I just can't remember where in the forum... Once I get my wiki account up and running, I may add that to the FAQ, 'cause it comes up pretty frequently.
