Title: How can I make my FLAC files’ icons show their album art in Windows 7?
Post by: rmlazzari on 2012-05-26 21:51:01
There's something different about the icons for my .MP3 files compared with .FLAC files.

The first ones are shown as below: the album cover and in a corner, a mention that it is associated to Foobar2000 (the mine: v 1.1.11).

But the .FLAC files are shown with only the Foobar2000 icon:

I embeded the images in both file types with Mp3tag v2.51. I've associated these files several times in the Foobar2000 options but I believe it's not a problem of the player, but the OS. In my case, Win7.

I'd like the .FLAC icons were shown as the .MP3, the cover (or the picture i embeded in the file) and the Foobar2000 icon too.

Can somebody help?

You are correct that it is not something for which foobar2000 is responsible, so I have renamed and moved the thread for that reason.

The free version of dbpoweramp will show the correct image in explorer, through its shell extension.

It's certainly not a FLAC issue, either.

Where do you suggest it should be placed instead? Clearly, it requires a shell extension that is capable of extracting the image from within the structure of the format in question, which in this case is FLAC.

Or are you just trying to be smart… and not succeeding?

Where did the shell extension come from that is accomplishing this for the Mp3 files?

Windows (in OP's case, Windows 7) has bulit-in extension for MP3 files (and for M4A, and for WMA, but not for FLAC).

Thank you all. Someone from outside the group suggested a solution by installing an extension to the OS. This issue seems to be related to Windows7 and as soon as I get download and install this .MSI file I'll bring news. I know that this problem is just an eye candy, just to make the look more beautiful, but ... I really like functional and pretty things

Thanks anyway.
